BERNARD “THE EXECUTIONER” HOPKINS AND FORMER WORLD CHAMPION “BAD” CHAD DAWSON TO MEET SATURDAY, APRIL 28 BOARDWALK HALL ATLANTIC CITY

WBC AND RING MAGAZINE LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION BERNARD “THE EXECUTIONER” HOPKINS AND FORMER WORLD CHAMPION “BAD” CHAD DAWSON TO MEET SATURDAY, APRIL 28 AT BOARDWALK HALL IN ATLANTIC CITY TO DETERMINE WHO IS CHAMPION “ONCE AND FOR ALL”

HBO World Championship Boxing® To Televise The Light Heavyweight Showdown

New York City, February 22 – The oldest fighter in boxing history to win a world title, Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins, and former World Champion “Bad” Chad Dawson will meet again to settle their heated feud following their October 2011 bout, which was originally scored as a TKO win for Dawson, but later ruled a no decision by the California State Athletic Commission.  The two are ready to resume their high-stakes rivalry on Saturday, April 28 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  The 12 round bout for Hopkins’ WBC and Ring Magazine light heavyweight world championships will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing beginning at 10:15 p.m. ET/7:15 p.m. PT.

“Chad Dawson can say whatever he wants, but I am not going to trash talk this one,” said Hopkins.  “Everyone knows what I am capable of in the ring.  They have seen it over 50 times before in the last 20 plus years.  I will say that I am really happy that this is on HBO so that all of my fans from across the country can see me continue this unprecedented path.  I absolutely want to prove that I can beat Chad Dawson, another guy that is almost two decades younger than me and I am confident I will on April 28.”

“The first fight did not go as planned, but I’m confident I was going to win that night,” said Dawson.  “Hopkins is going to have to face his fears.  Bernard tried to run away from me, but here we are again.  I’m thrilled about the whole situation.  I’m very excited to fight on the East Coast because a lot of my fans will be there to see me live.  I know I’ll be ready come fight night.”

“Whenever Bernard Hopkins fights, I get the chills because he is a living legend,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “Bernard has an amazing history, having fought and defeated so many world champions.  I truly believe that he and Dawson facing off in Atlantic City on HBO World Championship Boxing is a recipe for an unforgettable night.”

“The score must be settled once and for all,” said Gary Shaw, CEO of Gary Shaw Productions.  “Chad Dawson has something to prove.  We all know Bernard Hopkins is a future Hall of Famer, but Chad is not going to let him get away with any of his antics or funny stuff.  Chad wanted this bout and now that he has it, he’s going to do whatever it takes to be a champion once again.”

“Bernard Hopkins and Chad Dawson have unfinished business and we look forward to televising this intriguing light heavyweight showdown,” said Kery Davis, senior vice president, programming, HBO Sports.  “Bernard’s credentials as a future Hall of Famer are firmly established and he captured the world’s attention last year when he won a world title at the age of 46.  Chad is an extremely talented fighter in his prime.  This sets up to be a hard-fought encounter that boxing fans will be excited to see.”

“Bernard Hopkins is a world champion athlete who grew up and trained in the greater Philadelphia area, just a short ride from Atlantic City, so this fight is going to be a great draw for Atlantic City,” said Don Marrandino, Eastern Division President for Caesars Entertainment.  “Some of the greatest boxing matches and sporting events have been hosted in Atlantic City and on April 28, Historic Boardwalk Hall will be the backdrop to what could be Hopkins’ most historic fights and likely one of the final bouts of his career – he’s one of the most exciting boxers to watch and one of the greatest athletes of the past 50 years.”

“Hopkins vs. Dawson: Once And For All,” a 12 round bout for Hopkins’ WBC and Ring Magazine light heavyweight world championships, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Gary Shaw Productions and sponsored by Caesars Atlantic City.  The bout will take place from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey and be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing® beginning at 10:15 p.m. ET/7:15 p.m. PT.

Tickets, priced at $300, $200, $100, $50 and $25, go on sale on Thursday, February 23 at 12:00 p.m. ET.  Tickets will be available for purchase at the Boardwalk Hall box office, by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 736-1420 or online at ticketmaster.com.

The oldest man in boxing history to win a major world title, 47-year old Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KO’s) still fights with the skill and tenacity of fighters 20 years his junior.  A proud native of Philadelphia, Hopkins has not only secured a future spot in the Hall of Fame, he has solidified his place amongst athletes who have achieved greatness well into their forties.  Between his 10-year title reign at middleweight and his incredible victories over Antonio Tarver, Winky Wright, Kelly Pavlik and Roy Jones Jr., all after the age of 41, Hopkins is truly a living legend.  In May 2011, he reached the top of the boxing mountain once again with his stirring victory over Jean Pascal, breaking the age record previously held by George Foreman.  Today, Hopkins is a few months away from breaking another record and becoming the oldest reigning champion ever as he continues to follow the path of Archie Moore, who made his last title defense at 47 years and seven months old.  Should Hopkins be victorious on April 28, he will become one step closer to reaching that goal as he faces Dawson with the intention of adding another amazing achievement to his resume.

Former WBC and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion “Bad” Chad Dawson (30-1, 17 KO’s) has long been considered one of the sport’s best pound for pound by boxing insiders and his victories over respected world champions such as Glen Johnson (twice), Antonio Tarver (twice), and Tomasz Adamek have proven that he has the talent and athleticism to stay atop his division.  In 2011, the 29-year old from New Haven, Conn. bounced back from his lone loss to Pascal in 2010 with an impressive win over Adrian Diaconu, but it’s Hopkins that he really wants to add to his list of vanquished foes, and now he has his chance.  Dawson is ready to end Hopkins’ victory lap as the oldest world champion and start a new chapter of his career as a newly re-crowned champion.

CRDA Board Takes Action to Quickly Move Atlantic City Forward

(Atlantic City, NJ – February 21, 2012) – The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) Board today took action on key initiatives to bring a new Atlantic City forward.

The Board approved a $6.1 million loan for the Steel Pier revitalization project.  Steel Pier’s owners plan to renovate and expand the historic attraction over three years to include new rides, midway and food court, add a restaurant/nightclub and turn it into a non-casino attraction that will be open nearly year-round.

In addition, the Board voted to take initial steps to advance five new projects related to the Tourism District Master Plan which was approved earlier this month. “This is a momentous day for Atlantic City,” said CRDA Board Chairman James B. Kehoe.  “Together, these initiatives will have a significant, positive impact on Atlantic City’s future.  We’re honored to be part of this process and excited to be able to quickly begin to implement the Master Plan.”

The projects include:

*     A project to transform Michigan Avenue and Pacific Avenue into active, pedestrian oriented streets with restaurants, bars, bistros and nightclubs.

*     The Inlet Beach Park Project, which would build on existing attractions such as Revel and Absecon Lighthouse and transform the Inlet district into a mixed-used area with open park spaces and education, research, retail and entertainment spaces.

*     The Atlantic Avenue Façade Project, which aims to create a “Main Street” environment along Atlantic Avenue through renovation of storefronts, improved signage and graphics, traffic control improvements, and repurposing of upper level space for residential use, among other initiatives.

*     The Flex Fields project  to create sport-oriented turf fields and landscaped sculpture gardens where no activity currently exists on the beach blocks from Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard to North Carolina Avenue.  This project would also provide activities such as sport tournaments throughout the year.

*     The Boardwalk Innovation Pavilion concept, which would place corporate-sponsored, glass pavilions at specific locations along the Boardwalk to create additional interest.

The Board also acted upon approvals to make Atlantic City cleaner.  The Board approved contracts to purchase trucks, a beach rake and over 900 new trash receptacles and recycling containers.  The receptacles and new recycling collection system will help attain the new clean City goals as well as save money through recycling.

“The CRDA and City as a whole have a lot to be proud of today,” said John Palmieri, CRDA Executive Director.

Tropicana Announces Boogie Nights Reality Show Filming for a four- part reality series

Tropicana Announces Boogie Nights Reality Show
Filming for a four- part reality series

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (February 20, 2012) – The Tropicana Casino and Resort wants to make the dream of building Boogie Nights a reality.

Tropicana and the Emmy Award-winning television series Curtain Call with David Spatz have announced plans for a four-part, reality-based Boogie Nights television series on the making of the new nightclub. The progress of the ultimate ’70s- and ’80s-themed dance club build-out will be filmed and include interviews with Tropicana President and CEO, Tony Rodio, Boogie Nights creator Dave Pena and other key executives and Boogie Nights staff during meetings and strategy sessions related to building components, staffing and marketing of the club.

“We’re really thrilled to be part of a Boogie Nights reality series, and are already riding on an incredible energy as we recently moved 148 slot machines from Penny Pavilion slot and participated in a Boogie Nights workout class at Tilton Fitness,” commented Tony Rodio, President and CEO of Tropicana.

“The Boogie Nights brand began in Atlantic City and has soared to huge successes in several markets,” he added. “This location at the Tropicana will be the biggest and best yet.”

Episodes of the series will also include auditions for Boogie Nights’ staff of entertainers who’ll give the room its personality. The production will also include a time-lapse camera to capture the transformation from casino space to nightclub. From that material, a special four-part series will air on WMGM-NBC40’s Curtain Call, hosted by veteran entertainment journalist David Spatz. Air dates will be announced soon.

The first three shows will air during the run-up to the club’s debut. The fourth and final program will cover the celebrity-packed opening of the club in either late April or early May. There will also be webisodes for Tropicana’s social media web sites and YouTube.com so viewers can monitor the progress of the club.

While other reality shows have been produced in New Jersey, this series will be the first to originate from Atlantic City.

“This is something a little different from the usual format of our show,” said Curtain Call producer and director Jake Glassey Jr. of Atlantic Coast Productions in Northfield, N.J. “We’re excited to be able to capture the build-out of this popular club and create a reality-based series of shows around it.”

Boogie Nights’ new location will double the size of the original room and will be located adjacent to the casino floor. The retro nightclub themed to the 1970s and ‘80s continues its time warp back to the era of 8-track tapes, disco, bell bottoms, sideburns, crushed velvet and afros. Retro-style furniture, special pop culture cocktails and an oversized disco ball will create the ideal atmosphere for a night of flashback fun.

Boogie Nights will celebrate its grand opening at Tropicana in May with a spectacular party that will be the buzz of Atlantic City, and include a calendar packed with special events, appearances and more.

CLUTCH and HELLYEAH Unite For North American Co-Headlining Tour House of Blues AC April 14, 2012

Maryland rockers CLUTCH are teaming up with HELLYEAH for a North American Co-Headlining Tour this Spring. Both bands will play full headlining sets. The tour kicks off April 13th in Providence, RI and runs through May 11th in Joliet, IL.  Throughout the tour there will also be dates that feature Clutch only and Hellyeah only as well as radio festivals and shows.  A list of complete dates can be found below.

Hard rock supergroup HELLYEAH is touring in support of their new album Band of Brothers which is scheduled for a June 5th release in North America. The album, the band’s first effort for their new label home, Eleven Seven Music, was recorded in Dallas at drummer Vinnie Paul’s home studio, VP’s Upstairs Studio, and was produced by the band and Jeremy Parker (Godsmack, Evanessence), who also served as engineer.

Having produced track after track of heavy-hitting, in-your-face, feel good rock and roll on their previous two albums (2010’s STAMPEDE and 2007’s self-titled debut), Band of Brothers sees HELLYEAH taking a slightly different musical direction. Drawing on their former bands’ collective metal roots for inspiration, the influences and style of Mudvayne, Pantera, Damageplan and Nothingface are immediately recognizable. More information regarding Hellyeah’s highly anticipated new album can be found HERE.

CLUTCH is hitting the road in support of their double vinyl edition of Blast Tyrant which is being released February 28th via Weathermaker Music.  This 180+ gram expanded vinyl contains 16 songs and includes six mini-posters taken straight from Blast Tyrant’s “Atlas of the Invisible World”.   Each illustrated poster is sized (8.5″ x 11″) and depicts one of the various characters featured within the Blast Tyrant storyline.  Prior to February 28th, the double vinyl edition of Blast Tyrant is exclusively available via www.Clutchmerch.comCLUTCH will also be releasing a picture disc single of the new track “Pigtown Blues” on April 24th.  This is the first new studio material from CLUTCH since 2009’s Strange Cousins From the West.

CLUTCH will also be returning to Europe this festival season.  The band has been confirmed for the Sonisphere Festival in Madrid Spain on May 26th and the Peace and Love Festival in Borlänge, Sweden on June 29th.  Additional festival appearances are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

In other CLUTCH news, the band’s music will be featured in the soon to be released film “The Baytown Disco” starring Andre Braugher, Billy Bob Thornton, and Eva Longoria.  A six minute preview of the film can, featuring CLUTCH music can be viewed HERE.  And for all you hockey fans, CLUTCH’s “Electric Worry” is still the goal music for the Vancouver Canucks.
